Sociedade Brasileira de História da Educação: constituição, organização e realizações

Abstract

The article gives an account of the creation of the Brazilian Society for the History of Education (Sociedade Brasileira de História da Educação-SBHE), its organization and main undertakings. To such end, it analyzes the makeup of the research in the educational area for the last thirty years, and observes the shaping of History of Education as a field of study during that same period. The texts describes the process that culminated with the setting up of that national Association, exploring the records of the Conferences it organized, the vehicles employed to divulge the researches, and the efforts to establish and consolidate the dialogue with similar associations abroad. Finally, it investigates the incentives given to the academic exchange and the actions carried out with funding agencies and governmental bodies in support of studies in this field.
