In Querétaro, as in the rest of the country, the presidential period of Porfirio Díaz was rich in regards to education matters but did not favored all the population. Since social status of women was constrained within family boundaries, government policies were directed to give them only the basic education needed so they would contribute to the well being of society according to their biological and emotional characteristics. Women had access to teaching in primary schools, activity that required qualities considered essentially feminine, as a patience, sweetness an tenderness; but were not allowed to practice political and scientific professions.
