Old and recent problems and conflicts concur at the beginning of the 20th century in the providence Entre Ríos. Among them, are those which this paper shall deal with. In the first place, literacy and its opposite, illiteracy; secondly, the tensions between central and provincial power; finally, the problem of the people´s integration/nationalization/argentinization confronted and the same time close to the disregard for and acknowledgement of differences. These issues in themselves and interwoven will generate a dynamics with diverse resolutions in the provincial scenery of that period.
