Novohispanic colleges have always been a poorly disseminated topic in history, because it is always inquired only about those whose structure is still standing. One of the most important colleges was -in its time- the College of San Juan de Letrán. Investigating about it is not only useful for learning its history, it is also useful to understand what the transition was like during the last years of the Colonial period to the first years of the Independent period; of the education taught by ecclesiastical scholars to an education taught by professional scholars. It is something that will help us to understand how the reconfiguration of the scholar order came about in this period, and also to comprehend one of the previous stages of education in Mexico.
